Bay at the moon

Hey there Little Red Riding Hood, You sure are lookin good! [27 Jun 2009|05:02pm]

Last weekend I had the pleasure of performing with the Oakland East Bay gay men's Chorus. They did a cover of "L'il Red Riding Hood" by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. (Also more recently covered by Bowling for Soup). I was, of course, the wolf. This was a LOT of fun to do! I haven;t actually performed anything on a stage in years, and it just felt good. Later on I should be getting access to more pictures, and maybe some video, too!

The costume is by Gary Pinkley, and Alexis Rudd at Primal Visions Studios.

I never realised how hard it was to find a decent comm that includes werewolves on lj. I have searched far and wide, fought my way past the communities for furries and the like, and finally, at long last, found you guys! So thank you for making such a great comm. These guys deserve the attention.

I co-mod a great Harry Potter RPG called allinplaid - if I just lost your attention, don't lose hope. It is set in the late 70s and we like to keep a balance of light character-based fun and also really focus on the dark, gritty, plot-driven things that often get either left out or done poorly in RPGs. We want to create a realistic, inventive, ominous playground where we all can play.
And in the sake of that darker side, we are looking for werewolves.

I know that some of you may not be interested in HP or in being in an RPG but we would love to bring our game that edge that only werewolves can provide and I know you guys are the people to go to.

We're planning a winter holidays attack on the Ministry and we really would love if we could get some werewolves by then because it would be amazing. Imagine.

Premise + Available Characters + Current Players + Rules + Application + Taken PBs + Friend Add

If this kind of post is not allowed in this comm, just let me know and I'll delete it right away. I'm just trying to appeal to my target audience and this seemed like the place to do it. :) I know if you're a member of this community then you will be able to create a mature, unique character and be true to the spirit werewolves can offer. It is a really fun community and both myself and my co-mod are flexible and creative and we would love to have help with plot ideas. It's a laid-back game with some exquisite players and we would love you to join.

Any questions at all, comment here or email me, Hannah, at tehpadfoot@gmail.com.

Coloring Contest- Color Grygon for free art and more [13 May 2008|06:06pm]

I was talking to someone about how sad I was to only get 8 entries in this contest. They pointed out that:
A. I haven't had time to advertise it for weeks.
B. The due date was right around finals for most students.

So, I am extending this contest to May 29. And now that I have time, I'll advertise the hell out of it.

This is the image you need to color. Uploaded big for coloring. Follow the rules, they're printed right on the image.

And here's info on the contest. Including rules, prizes, and answered questions.

effect of werewolfism on unborn children [12 May 2008|11:00pm]

[ mood | hot ]

If this post is unsuitable for this community, please reply to this post and it will be deleted as soon as I get the message.

I am planning a werewolf story and I have an idea for a character but I don’t know if it’ll work. Basically a human woman was bitten by a werewolf. However, at the time, she was pregnant at the time (by a human male of course lol). The question is even though the woman is now a full werewolf and transforms at the full moon, how would this affect her child once it is born?

I do have three theories:

1) As the child was conceived by humans, it would not be affected by its mother’s curse regardless of the stage of pregnancy.
2) The child will become affected by werewolf blood too and become a full werewolf, despite the stage of the pregnancy in which its mother was bitten.
3) It depends on the stage of pregnancy. The earlier into the pregnancy the mother was bitten, the more affected the child will be.
ie If the mother was bitten during the first trimester (1-3 months), the child will be a full blood werewolf). If during the second trimester, it will be a half-breed and if during the third trimester, there will be either no effect or it will affected like Bill Weasley in “Harry Potter” (develop some Werewolf tendancies such as a liking for very rare steaks).

Any thoughts will be taken seriously.

Edit: 13/05/08 11:00am: Some of you have commented that I’m thinking of the werewolf bit as a mythical thing. In the case of a pregnancy woman being bitten, I was thinking more on the “blood” theory e.g. if you are infected with HIV via a syringe or a HIV person, it goes into your blood.

Also, I am not portraying werewolves as monsters. Well, I do but I put in a theory that was influenced by the Wolfsbane potion in Harry Potter. However, rather than suing a potion to keep your human mind during a full moon, in my world, it is possible for a werewolf to keep their human is more psychological. Basically the more frustrated you are before a full moon, the more of a “monster” you’ll become. If you are calm and more stable, you’ll be able to control yourself as a werewolf. In my world, many Rogue werewolves shunned from society as well as many half-breeds have this problem.

Just thought I let you know.

CONTEST and commissions [30 Mar 2008|02:58am]

I am holding a coloring contest that you can check out here: Color Grygon. Prizes include free line art from yours truly, and your link in my DeviantArt signature (when I whore the DA forums my own pageviews sky rocket).

And I swear, if I don't get some commissions soon I am going to shrink the other lineart I put up in this series 350pixels wide. I think my prices are more than reasonable, but I guess people don't want to pay for an original of their character if there's even the slightest chance I'll do it for free OR put up more freebies. Well, no more freebies. Want super large uploads for coloring? Commission it.

Sorry, guys. It's just that I've plugged those commissions every where and haven't got ONE bite. I don't know what gives, but I have been told my prices are great. So, what is it?

I come bearing a link to a newly created Werewolf LJ RPG Comm. The RPG takes place in the 1800's of Norway (of course your character does not need to be Norwegian). We need pack members for the 3 packs. We have room for hunters, workers, guards, betas and Omegas (the wolf that gets picked on the most) for two of the packs. Follow the cut for more info and links.

Werewolf books [04 Dec 2006|12:23pm]

What are some of your favorite werewolf-themed books? I've always had a difficult time finding good horror with werewolves or animal transformation themes in general. As a kid I read all of R.L. Stine's books--The Werewolf of Fever Swamp; Bad Moonlight. Recently, I discovered Kelley Armstrong and her werewolf-themed stories around a female werewolf in a world where all werewolves are male (Bitten and Stolen). I need fresh material, bit there doesn't seem to be a lot on the Barnes & Noble shelves on lycanthrope literature.

Howdy! [12 Nov 2006|10:11am]

Extending an invitation to join shifterslash, a livejournal community dedicated to fans of slash, femslash, shounen-ai, yaoi, shoujo-ai, and yuri that involves shifters such as werewolves, werecats, skinwalkers, and the like.

This is considered an adult group and thus only 18+ members will be admitted, so put your full birthdate (or at least the year) in your profile to be admitted. Go to http://www.livejournal.com/manage/profile/ and under "Birthday display options" pick a setting that will display your year. ---Keep your birthday displayed--- I often make rounds rechecking member info pages and if I catch someone without a displayed birthday you will be taken off the group.

All new posts here are friends-only so if the group appears dead, that's just because you're not seeing the new posts as a non-member.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
